You asked to speak with me after class. Is everything all right?
I’m trying to keep up, but I’m falling behind. I haven’t caught up with the reading, and the assignment is due Friday.
How much of the assignment have you completed?
I’ve chosen the topic, found three useful sources and written the introduction, but I haven’t finished the main sections.
Is the assignment the problem, or is your general workload too heavy?
The instructions are clear. I’ve got too much on at the moment. I’m taking four courses and working extra shifts because a coworker is sick.
Have you made a schedule for the remaining work?
Yes, but I’m not following it well. After work, I’m too tired to concentrate, so the reading keeps building up.
What kind of support would help most?
Could I have a little more time? I’m not trying to avoid the assignment. I want to submit work that is properly completed.
The original deadline is Friday, but I can give you an extension until Monday evening.
That would help. I can finish the reading this weekend and use Monday to revise the final draft.
Send me your outline by Friday. That will show you are still making progress.
That’s fair. I can also send the sources I’ve collected.
Contact the study-support center too. They can help you organize your weekly schedule.
I will. I don’t want this problem to continue in my other courses.
An extension helps with this deadline, but you also need a plan for the overall workload.
I understand. Thanks for the extra time and the longer-term solution.
